Colombia’s famous higher educational institution Santo Tomas University has hosted a presentation themed “Life returns to Karabakh: Achievements and challenges” presentation on the sidelines of the international symposium marking the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye.
The event, co-organized by Azerbaijani and Turkish Embassies in Colombia, as well as Turkish Maarif Foundation, brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Colombia, representatives of academic circles, as well as students.
The participants were informed about the history of Azerbaijan, including the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic – the first democratic republic in the Muslim East, the restoration of independence in 1991, the Presidency of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who contributed significantly to Azerbaijan’s salvation during the turbulent times for the country. It was noted that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the National Leader and was declared as the “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in Azerbaijan.
The presentation also highlighted the grave consequences of the Armenian aggressive policy pursued against Azerbaijan, the restoration of historic justice by Azerbaijan as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, the reasons behind the local anti-terrorist measures conducted in Karabakh and its outcomes, as well as Azerbaijan’s efforts towards the reintegration of the Armenian residents living in Karabakh in accordance with the constitution and legislation of Azerbaijan.
The participants were provided with detailed information on the ongoing large-scale reconstruction and restoration process in the liberated territories, challenges posed by mine threats, and the demining activities carried out by Azerbaijan.
The audience was also informed that the restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty had created a unique and historic opportunity in the region, and that the signing of peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and defining of the state borders, including the opening of the Zangazur corridor would ensure peace and prosperity in the region.
