Tokyo, 5 March, /AJMEDIA

North Korea launched what could be a ballistic missile Saturday, the Japanese government said.

North Korea fired a projectile toward the Sea of Japan, the South Korean military said. The North last fired a ballistic missile on Feb. 27.

The missile is believed to have fallen outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, a Japanese government source said, adding no damage has been reported.

The launch marks the ninth round of missile tests by Pyongyang since the beginning of 2022.
