Azerbaijan, which has become the leading state of the region as a result of its great achievements, has entered a new period of development. The large-scale socio-economic reforms carried out in the country are now reflected in the daily lives of citizens and in the country’s economic indicators. Azerbaijan’s successful energy and transport policy has not only led to the creation of international energy and transport corridors of great importance in these areas of the economy, but also created new formats of cooperation in the Eurasian space. As a result of the brilliant Victory won in the Patriotic War, Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity have been fully and definitively restored. The results of the Second Karabakh War have formed new realities and new cooperation opportunities for the region. Sustainable development has been ensured in both the political and economic spheres in Azerbaijan, and our republic has become a country with great influence and respect in the international community.
This continuous development line covers the period of political power of the New Azerbaijan Party under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the successor of the path of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. Today marks the 31st anniversary of the establishment of the New Azerbaijan Party. The establishment of the New Azerbaijan Party, which has undergone great development in thirty-one years, was a historical necessity, the culmination of the events taking place at that time, and the logical result of the current socio-political situation. Today, the New Azerbaijan Party has become the largest political organization not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the South Caucasus. The ruling party, which demonstrated the model of national unity to the world during the forty-four-day Patriotic War, has laid the foundation for a completely new strategy in the political life of Azerbaijan – a model of political solidarity, integration, and national unity.
The slogan of President Ilham Aliyev “We are strong together!” has become the main philosophy of state policy and is also reflected in political relations. The programmatic speeches, recommendations, and tasks of the Chairman of the Party, President Ilham Aliyev at the congresses and conferences of the New Azerbaijan Party are accepted as an action program for each party member. The activities of the New Azerbaijan Party, formed as a result of these calls and recommendations, contribute to its mission of salvation not only within the country, but also in the regional framework. Based on this mission, the party was set new goals and tasks at the 7th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) held on March 5, 2021. In his extensive speech at the congress, the Chairman of the party, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, put forward valuable ideas regarding the activities of the party since its establishment to strengthen independent statehood and the democratic political system, the sustainable development of our country, and ensuring national unity and civic solidarity. The goals and objectives of the policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev also mean the goals and objectives of the party of which he is the Chairman. Therefore, the provisions of the national priorities, state programs, concepts, Development strategies and action plans approved by the head of state, which envisage the development of various sectors of society, were reflected in the new program of the party. At the same time, the new realities created in the region by the magnificent Karabakh victory achieved by Azerbaijan confirmed and strengthened the status of our country as the leader of the region. The number of foreign partners of Azerbaijan, which is strengthening its economic and political independence day by day, is also constantly increasing, and the position of our country and its leadership on the most urgent, globally important issues is of interest to leading states and international organizations.
Naturally, these factors also have a positive impact on the strengthening of the international relations of the New Azerbaijan Party, as a continuation of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy. The structural changes adopted at the 7th Congress of the party, the new Charter and the new Program of the party approved at the meeting of the New Azerbaijan Party Board on December 29, 2021, were very important steps in terms of the adaptation of the New Azerbaijan Party, the leading political force of Azerbaijan, to the new internal and external situation and keeping up with the times.
In addition, important visits, events and documents have been signed to expand the party’s foreign relations. The long-standing cooperation between the New Azerbaijan Party and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) of Turkey has entered a new stage with the cooperation protocol signed on June 2, 2021. With the joint organization of both parties, conferences were held in person and video format last year, and mutual visits of delegations took place. The relations of friendship and brotherhood between our countries, as well as in other areas, are developing dynamically in the relations of the ruling political parties.
In addition, on December 3, 2021, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the New Azerbaijan Party and the ruling Servant of the People Party of Ukraine in Kiev. In 2002, the New Azerbaijan Party participated in international events organized by the Communist Party of China in video format, and new prospects for cooperation were discussed during a video meeting between the two parties on October 29.
Also, from November 29 to December 1, 2021, the New Azerbaijan Party delegation participated in an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence. At the same time, the New Azerbaijan Party also has relations with the ruling parties of Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Japan, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
In addition, the New Azerbaijan Party actively participates in the organization’s events as a member of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), which includes more than 350 political parties in the Asian region, and also continues its activities as an observer member of the Centrist Democratic International (ICAPP-CDI), which includes about 100 political parties around the world.
Whether in bilateral relations or in international events in which it participates, the New Azerbaijan Party regularly promotes the realities of Azerbaijan, the huge projects implemented in the direction of the revival of Karabakh, and shares our country’s experience in comprehensive, sustainable development, multiculturalism, increasing the socio-political activity of youth and women, the successful fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and its socio-economic consequences, environmental protection, the transition to green energy, and other relevant issues.
Thus, the New Azerbaijan Party, whose international reputation is increasing and whose foreign relations are expanding, is making its contribution to the protection and provision of the national interests of our country.
We can say with confidence that the New Azerbaijan Party has passed an honorable path in the last 32 years, maintaining its monolithic nature, strengthening itself, and gaining great influence both within the country and abroad with its superiority and brilliant victories. The victories of the New Azerbaijan Party in the elections demonstrate the strength of this party’s place in society, the public support for the policy implemented to strengthen our statehood, and the high trust of the people in this organization. The victories of the New Azerbaijan Party in all the elections in which it participated are once again an expression of the appreciation of the citizens of the country for the reality of Azerbaijan and their confidence in the successful domestic and foreign policy implemented by President Ilham Aliyev. This is also an indication that the head of state is the President of every citizen, the comprehensive development of Azerbaijan, and the embodiment of the unity of the people and the power with the confirmation of every promise made in concrete practical work.
