The Taliban* will announce the formation of a new Afghan government on 3 August but its composition remains uncertain as of now, a source from the movement’s military commission told on 31 August.

The source added, on condition of anonymity, that it is not yet known who will be part of the government and what will be its format.

The movement earlier pledged to create an inclusive new government in Afghanistan and respect the religious beliefs and spiritual values of all Afghans.
On 15 August, the Taliban completed their takeover of Afghanistan by entering Kabul, which led to the collapse of the US-backed civilian government. Following those events, most countries started evacuating their citizens and diplomatic staff, as well as Afghan allies.
