US Secretary of State holds phone talk with Pakistani Prime Minister

Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio late last night. The two leaders discussed bilateral and regional issues.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, during their cordial conversation, Prime Minister Sharif appreciated the U.S. President’s bold and decisive leadership that led to the ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also thanked U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the key role played by the United States in facilitating the Pakistan-India ceasefire in May. Both sides agreed to continue working closely to strengthen Pakistan-U.S. relations, particularly through enhanced trade.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role in promoting peace in the Middle East. Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed these efforts, stating that the United States is eager to work with Pakistan to promote peace and stability in the region.

According to the U.S. Department of State Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif regarding developments in the Middle East. Secretary Rubio stressed that Iran must never develop or acquire a nuclear weapon.

Both leaders acknowledged the importance of working together to promote lasting peace between Israel and Iran and to maintain regional stability.
