US State Dept comments on aggravation of situation on Azerbaijani-Armenian border

The US is concerned about the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller said during a briefing, AJMEDIA reports.

“We remain concerned about the situation and we continue to urge the two parties to work together to bridge the remaining differences. Speaking broadly, we do believe that an agreement is still within reach and we look forward to convening the two parties to move forward,” he said.

On June 15, 2023, at 08:45 (GMT +4), as a result of opening fire from the territory of Armenia, a serviceman of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan Elshan Rustamov, who served at the Lachin border checkpoint, was injured.

The Armenian armed forces’ firing point was suppressed by return fire, the combat situation is under the control of Azerbaijani units.

The injured soldier was given first aid, and his life is out of danger.
