The participants of the Forth Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth, to be held in Nakhchivan as part of “Year of Heydar Aliyev” on the occasion of 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern Azerbaijan, have visited the Alley of Honors and the Second Alley of Martyrs.

The participants first visited the Alley of Honors to pay tribute to national leader, and to lay flowers at his grave.

Then participants proceeded to the Second Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity.

They also familiarized themselves with the Heydar Aliyev Center named after the national leader.

Heydar Aliyev Foundation is the partner organization of the Camp to be held between on August 12-18, 2023 in Nakhchivan. The organizational support is provided by the Plenipotentiary representative Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

More than 100 youths from 53 countries, including Azerbaijanis living abroad and representatives of the friendly nations, will attend Fourth Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth, one of the branded projects in the history of Azerbaijani diaspora. Holding the Camp in the ancient city of Nakhchivan, where Heydar Aliyev was born a century ago, increases the importance of the event.

At the V (Victory) Congress of World Azerbaijanis held in Shusha on April 22-23, 2022, President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev urged all Azerbaijanis living abroad to be in close contact with their historical motherland, to come to Azerbaijan with their families at least once in a year, not to forget their mother tongue, to learn the history of Azerbaijan, and called the second and third generations of Azerbaijanis to be attached to their culture.

In this sense, the summer camps of Diaspora Youth can be evaluated as the implementation of the President’s recommendations.

Sheki hosted the First Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 2018, while the Second Summer Camp “Nasimi – 650” was held in Shamakhi in 2019. The Third Summer Camp “Shusha – 270” was held in Shusha, cultural capital of Azerbaijan a year ago.
