The Tripartite Declaration signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia on November 10, 2020 ended the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia for many years. The military phase of the conflict ended with the signing of this document of important historical importance. The 44-day war resulted in the complete victory of Azerbaijan. On September 27, 2020, Azerbaijan Army, which started its Victory march, wrote the most glorious and bright page of our glorious history with the historic victory achieved under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The Tripartite Declaration, which meets the interests of Azerbaijan, actually means the capitulation of Armenia, and this document is of great historical importance.
It should be emphasized that the steel will of the President of Azerbaijan, the invincible strength of our army and the unshakable unity of our people forced Armenia to sign a document that was an act of capitulation for itself. The whole world saw the victory of the Azerbaijani people. Representatives of all nationalities and religious confessions living in our country fought with the enemy and restored the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
With the Tripartite Statement signed on November 10, 2020, the foundation of many important political, diplomatic and economic successes of our country was laid. Among these successes, the importance of returning Agdam, Lachin, Kalbajar regions to Azerbaijan without bloodshed should be specially mentioned. After the Patriotic War, Azerbaijan changed the existing status quo in a beneficial way and returned the lost territories. Under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief Muzaffar Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army destroyed the myth of the invincibility of the Armenian Army, which had been formed for years, in 44 days. In addition to all this, one of the most important aspects of the signing of the Tripartite Declaration was related to the return of Aghdam, Lachin, Kalbajar regions to Azerbaijan without bloodshed. As a result of the decisive position of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the leadership of Armenia, defeated and in a desperate situation, was forced to present a schedule for the unconditional withdrawal of all our occupied lands. There is no longer a territory called “Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Province”, giving any status to that territory is not a subject of discussion. All regions of Karabakh, like our other regions, are our inseparable territories that are part of Azerbaijan.
It should be reminded that Azerbaijan’s sovereignty was completely and definitively restored as a result of the construction of the “Lachin” border crossing point in the current year and then local anti-terrorist measures held in September. During the three years that have passed since the end of the Patriotic War, which was founded by the signing of the Tripartite Declaration, Armenia still avoids complying with the terms of the November 10 Declaration, and in addition to interfering in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs, it tried to dress up its aggressive policy against our country, which it has been carrying out for many years, in a different dress. In this regard, on April 23, 2023, the establishment of the “Lachin” border crossing point on the Hekari river in the territory of Lachin district on the Azerbaijan-Armenia border was an event of significant historical importance. With the establishment of this station, the integrity of the state borders of Azerbaijan was fully ensured.
In addition, the presence of Armenian armed forces in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan remained a source of serious threat to regional peace and stability. For this reason, Azerbaijan had to conduct a local anti-terrorist operation on September 19 this year. This operation, which lasted only 23 hours, showed Azerbaijan’s strength once again, and the enemy surrendered again raising a white flag. Thus, Azerbaijan restored its complete and definitive sovereignty over the entire territory of the country. The military parade held in Khankendi on November 8 once again demonstrated to the whole world the power of Azerbaijan and the fact that Karabakh will be an integral part of our country from now on.
