The Armed Forces that Azerbaijan has today were formed in very difficult and complex conditions. The process of creating and forming the regular army, which is the guarantor of Azerbaijan’s security, increasing its combat capability and bringing it to today’s level, was achieved due to great political will and hard work. Our state, the President of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev has always paid attention to strengthening the army, equipping it with modern combat equipment, and raising the social and household conditions of military personnel to a high level. As state building develops in our independent Azerbaijan, our army is also strengthened.
Of course, as the economic opportunities of Azerbaijan increase, more funds are allocated to the army. The funds allocated to the army from the state budget in the last five years are a clear example of this. In addition to being a guarantor of the independence of Azerbaijan, defense spending was also a necessary step for the establishment of permanent peace in the region. Thanks to the attention and care of the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continued and developed the army-building policy of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, increasing the professionalism of the military, raising the fighting spirit of the personnel, and equipping our army with the most modern weapons and equipment are always kept in the foreground. Thanks to this high attention of President Ilham Aliyev, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan have become the most powerful army in the region in a short period of time.
In particular, in the construction of the army of independent Azerbaijan, the unity of the army and the nation was established at a high level. This unbreakable unity showed itself again during the 44-day Patriotic War, when the Azerbaijani Army received great support from the nation. against the enemy, the people united closely around the Commander-in-Chief, trusted his army and celebrated the great victory. The glorious victory won by the Azerbaijani army under the victorious supreme command of President Ilham Aliyev in the Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020, left an important mark not only in the history of Azerbaijan, but also in the history of world military science.
Cooperation with brother Turkey in the military field is important not only in terms of strengthening the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, but also in terms of ensuring peace and security in the region in general. The analysis of the new geopolitical landscape created in the South Caucasus with the victory of Karabakh achieved by the Azerbaijani Army in the 44-day war demonstrated once again the role and importance of the military cooperation of the two brotherly and friendly states.
Most importantly, thanks to the far-sighted and wise policy of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has the strongest armed forces in the South Caucasus, the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty have been fully restored, and our lands, which were under enemy control for years, have regained freedom.
