First Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Forum wraps up in Khiva

As part of her working visit to Uzbekistan, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, addressed the closing ceremony of the First Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Forum, titled “Towards New Horizons: From Dialogue to Joint Action”.

Sahiba Gafarova noted that the forum’s intensive agenda, exchange of views, and purposeful discussions made it clear that significant progress had been achieved. She emphasized that the panel sessions covered a wide range of important issues in a comprehensive manner.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis stressed that while the objectives set for the forum had been successfully fulfilled, this is only the beginning. She noted that the forum lays the foundation for comprehensive, lasting, and in-depth cooperation and will serve as an important platform and effective mechanism for sustained dialogue.

Tanzila Narbaeva, Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, also highlighted the importance of the forum and the issues discussed. She expressed confidence that the constructive exchange of ideas would further strengthen the growing ties between the two countries and peoples.

Narbaeva underscored the pivotal role of the heads of state in advancing bilateral relations, noting that, thanks to their principled leadership, relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have risen to the level of a strategic partnership.

She also pointed out that parliamentary relations have expanded across several areas, with the number of reciprocal visits and meetings increasing in recent years. In this regard, the establishment of the Interparliamentary Commission marks a new phase in the development of cooperation.

The forum concluded with the adoption of the Khiva Declaration.
