“The relations between Azerbaijan and China are developing dynamically and steadily,” said Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan Guo Min as she met with Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova.
Ambassador Guo Min emphasized the important role of the two countries’ leaders in the advancement of bilateral relations. The diplomat also congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting COP29.
Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova hailed the high dynamic growth in relations between Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China. “The relations between Azerbaijan and China are those of strategic partnership. Our countries cooperate successfully in many areas,” Gafarova noted.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova mentioned that Guo Min’s diplomatic tenure in Azerbaijan had been marked by the progress of bilateral relations.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis underlined that the high-level political dialogue between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and China, based on mutual trust, had created a solid foundation for the advancement of the comprehensive bilateral relations. “The high-level contacts between the two countries’ leaders have a key role in deepening and developing the ties between the two countries in all areas. President Ilham Aliyev has paid five visits to the People’s Republic of China,” Gafarova mentioned.
Noting that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation plays significant role in the cultural and humanitarian exchange between the two countries, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the successful projects implemented in partnership with Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
“Our countries demonstrate mutual support to each other over matters of special importance to both countries. Azerbaijan has always supported the ‘one China’ policy and China’s territorial integrity and sovereignty unequivocally. China, on its part, has invariably supported our country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Our countries also support each other in international organisations,” Gafarova underscored.
The parties also discussed the inter-parliamentary cooperation between Azerbaijan and China. The sides underscored that this cooperation served to bring the two countries and peoples closer to each other.
Ambassador Guo Min also highlighted the role of the inter-parliamentary ties in the development of relations between the two countries. The Chinese diplomat expressed her gratitude to the Azerbaijani Parliament for the support to China on key matters.
“Azerbaijan is one of the first countries to support the ‘One Belt, One Way’ initiative proposed by the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China. Important relevant projects have been implemented in Azerbaijan. The transport capacity of Azerbaijan has grown significantly and new opportunities have been generated to undertake major economic projects,” Sahiba Gafarova mentioned.
The Chinese ambassador was also informed about the ongoing large-scale restoration and reconstruction works in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, including the ‘Smart town’, ‘Smart village’ and ‘Green Energy’ projects.
Ambassador Guo Min said that she had visited those territories and witnessed the works carried out there.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual concern.
