Elnur Mammadov, Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister, met with his Afghan counterpart Mohammad Naeem Wardak in Baku.
The meeting discussed cooperation between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan in economic, trade, transit and transport, diplomatic, humanitarian, consular and other areas.
The sides stressed the importance of deepening relations.
Elnur Mammadov expressed his gratitude for Afghanistan`s unequivocal support for Azerbaijan`s fair stance during the past conflict.
The sides highlighted the importance of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) with participation of the Afghan delegation.
Mohammad Naeem Wardak expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the invitation to participate in international events, emphasizing that such initiatives promote dialogue and mutual understanding between the two countries.
The parties also exchanged views on the developments unfolding in the region.
