A delegation of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), led by Vice-President and Director General of the Institute of Information Technology, Academician Rasim Alguliyev, visited the GÉANT Association office in Cambridge, UK. The meeting took place as part of the TNC25 international conference.
The delegation included the Head of Department at the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS Ramiz Alguliyev, Head of the AzScienceNet Network Management Center, Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Babek Nabiyev, and Chief Specialist of the Institute Konul Aliyeva.
The primary aim of the meeting was for the delegation to gain a better understanding of the technical infrastructure, management model, and innovative services of the GÉANT Association, as well as to explore opportunities for mutual cooperation.
As part of the meeting, Academician Rasim Alguliyev and EaPConnect Project Manager Irina Matthews discussed accelerating the integration of Azerbaijan’s science and education network infrastructure into the European academic space, as well as the continuation of strategic collaboration between GÉANT and AzScienceNet.
Furthermore, the delegation familiarized itself with the activities of GÉANT’s Data Center and Network Management Center and received detailed information about the technological platforms ensuring reliability, sustainability, and cybersecurity. At the same time, the parties exchanged views on best practices in big data analytics, AI application, and management systems.
The sides highlighted the importance of the agreements reached in terms of implementing joint projects with GÉANT in the future, participation in the Horizon Europe programs, and the involvement of the Institute’s scientists in the Special Group on Artificial Intelligence.
