Azerbaijan joins 47th session of UNESCO World Heritage Committee

The 47th session of the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has commenced at the organization’s headquarters in Paris.

Azerbaijan is represented at the event by delegations from the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, the State Tourism Agency, the Permanent Representation of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, the Administration of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher,” and Azerbaijan’s National Committee for ICOMOS. Azerbaijan’s official statement will be presented during the session.

Today’s plenary session will feature reports from the rapporteurs of the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee. The agenda also includes discussions on the implementation of the World Heritage Fund for 2024-2025, the budget proposal for 2026-2027, and the implementation of Resolution 46 regarding the establishment of the COM 13 advisory body.

The session will also hear the report on the activities of the World Heritage Centre and the implementation of the Committee’s decisions, a message from the 2025 World Heritage Young Professionals Forum, and reports from the advisory bodies.

Additionally, the session will cover the World Heritage Strategy in Africa, review the progress of World Heritage-related activities for Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and discuss the SIDS Operational Strategy for 2023-2029.
