A year ago, on September 19, the Ministry of Defense released information about the next provocation committed by the Armenian separatist forces, who were still stationed in Garadabag at that time – 9 of our servicemen were martyred as a result of Armenian provocation in Karabakh. This sad news, which shook Azerbaijanis living in different parts of the world, at the same time, created a serious basis for the initiation of a decisive operation against the illegal Armenian military and political groups that existed in Karabakh at that time.
Even before this bloody event, Armenians resorted to various provocations in Karabakh, on the conventional border between Azerbaijan and Armenia, but every time our victorious Army carried out retaliatory operations against the Armenians and punished the enemy. But the Armenians, who did not learn from the punishments they received since September 2020, were not going to give up their separatist and treacherous actions. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has repeatedly called on the Armenians not to violate the agreements reached, to reconcile with their defeats and to accept living under the Azerbaijan flag and with the existing laws of our country. Otherwise, he warned, saying, “Iron fist is in place and stronger than before.” Unfortunately, the Armenians did not stop their actions. On September 19, the Armenian armed forces in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan committed a series of large-scale military provocations and terrorist incidents.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced in a short time, just a few hours later, the start of anti-terrorist measures against illegal Armenian groups in Karabakh. This operation, which lasted less than 24 hours, ended with the great Victory of our army. Facing a heavy defeat, the enemy forces completely surrendered and begged for peace, raising the white flag. The statistics of military spoils captured by our army during anti-terrorist measures showed that there is a large number of weapons and ammunition in the enemy’s arsenal. Some of the seized weapons became new exhibits of the Military Spoils Park in Baku. As a result of anti-terrorist measures, the junta regime in Karabakh, the fake “presidents”, “ministers” and “generals” who led this regime and threatened our people, who said they would come to Baku in case of war, were arrested one by one. The handcuffing of these fake “heroes” to prison cells in Baku became the most circulated news of the world news agencies. The arrest of those Armenians, supported by some states that do not give up their imperialist policy, and various international institutions rooted in Islamophobic activities, became another indicator of the will, strength and principles of our state.
It is worth emphasizing that this operation, which ended with the complete defeat of the enemy and minimal losses in less than 24 hours, should be considered a perfect example of world military history. The anti-terrorist measures have once again demonstrated to the whole world that the military power of Azerbaijan has risen to the level of military might, that the military construction work in our country is perfectly continued, and that our people’s determination to win is unshakable. Anti-terrorist measures put an end to the occupation of our lands for a long time. It is true that a large part of our lands occupied for 30 years during the 44-day Patriotic War was liberated, but the complete completion of this historical mission was achieved precisely with anti-terrorist measures. With this operation, Azerbaijan completely and decisively restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
