Earth Celebration 2024 Music Festival to be held on Sado Island

Tokyo, 28 June, /AJMEDIA/

Tickets for Sado Island’s annual Earth Celebration music festival in August are now on sale. One of Japan’s longest running music festivals, the world-renowned Kodo taiko performing arts ensemble and international guest performers have thrilled audiences for 37 years.

Since their international debut in Berlin in 1981, Kodo has given over 7,000 performances in more than 50 countries and regions. Hosting this festival on their home turf on Sado Island, Earth Celebration brings together artists and festivalgoers from around the world for three days of energetic performances filled with drumming and soul.

Earth Celebration 2024 will run from August 16 to 18, and tickets are already rapidly selling out (book yours here before it’s too late).

While the Shiroyama Park Sessions and Fringe performances, workshops, bustling markets and sightseeing around Sado are all a large part of the appeal, it is the evening Harbor Concerts that bring in fans year after year, where you can feel the drum beats rise through your feet and dance with abandon under the star-filled sky of Sado Island.

This year music lovers will be treated to Reunion on August 16, bringing back four of Kodo’s popular alumni-turned-solo artists (Hiroyuki Hayashida, Ryutaro Kaneko, Yasukazu Kano, and Masayuki Sakamoto) to jam with the current Kodo ensemble.
