Embassy of Colombia invites Azerbaijani businessmen to participate in “Second International Coffee, Cocoa and Agrotourism” exhibition

The Embassy of the Republic of Colombia in the Republic of Azerbaijan invites Azerbaijani businessmen to take part in the “Second International Exhibition of Coffee, Cocoa and Agrotourism (FICCA)”, which will be held in Neiva (Huila) from September 30 till October 2, the Embassy told AJMEDIA.

Currently, Colombia is recognized worldwide for the production of mild and special coffees, which has positioned Colombian coffee as one of the best in the world, and where the department of Huila is one of the protagonists, for being the largest producer of coffee in Colombia, which stands out for its softness, aroma and flavor. On the other hand, Colombia has also been making its way worldwide for the quality of its fine and aroma cocoa, and where the department of Huila is the largest exporter of this product.

According to the above, the central objective of this Fair is to continue after 11 years of leadership of the department of Huila as the main coffee producing department, in quality and quantity in Colombia, contributing to local development, as well as expanding markets and strengthening the productive chains of the department, in order to position agriculture and rural tourism of Huila origin before the world, through this important event.

Currently, the coffee chain has a great role in the region and has 83,730 producers, which generate 101,000 direct jobs, and a participation of 84% in the department’s exports. For its part, the cocoa chain in recent years has been strengthening its quality processes in accordance with the standards required by the international markets for fine aroma and flavor cocoa, and has begun to take on an increasing role for its quality, Therefore, there are currently 3,300 producers at the departmental level, who generate 4,500 tons of annual production, and where 730 women producers have been characterized.

In terms of tourism, the department of Huila is a destination par excellence for nature, adventure and cultural heritage, becoming one of the main reasons why tourists visit the region, where nationally recognized places such as the Desert stand out. de la Tatacoa, or the Archaeological Park of San Agustín, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

By 2022, FICCA will be made up of interactive activities such as: Coffee tasting and roasting championship, chocolate shows and cocoa workshops, regional barista championship, highly relevant national contests in coffee and cocoa such as the “Colombia land of diversity”, which is the most important special coffee contest in the country, with the participation of coffee growers from the national territory, and its respective auction, the award ceremony for the “Cacao de oro” contest, a rich academic agenda based on the marketing theme with exponents of national and international stature, the second cupping version from Rome – Italy led by IILA, cocoa workshops for children such as “Chocoteritos”, regional and national trade fair, cupping tables and showrooms (Cafés del Huila), craft shows, cultural exhibitions, business conferences, invited countries and the presentation of the Special hall regions of the “Coffee Heart of Colombia”, made up of the departments of Huila, Tolima, Cauca and Nariño etc.
