At the beginning of the 90s of the last century, after Azerbaijan regained its state independence, dark clouds came over our country. On the one hand, the aggression of Armenia, on the other hand, as a result of the wrong policy, the country was dragged into a civil war, leading Azerbaijan to the abyss. Azerbaijan’s state independence, which was restored at the cost of martyrs’ blood, was in danger.
At that time, only a determined and strong-willed person with rich experience in state administration could get the country out of this difficult situation. At such a difficult moment, the only hope of the Azerbaijani people was the great leader Heydar Aliyev, who lived in Nakhchivan at that time. The people of Azerbaijan thought that only he could get our country out of this difficult situation. Undoubtedly, if the Great Leader had not come to power at that time, it would be very difficult to imagine what Azerbaijan would be like today.
In the months of May-June 1993, due to the threat of civil war and loss of independence in the country, the people of Azerbaijan demanded that Heydar Aliyev be brought to power. As the situation became more tense day by day, the country’s leadership at that time was forced to invite this genius politician to Baku. Thus, Heydar Aliyev responded to the call of the people, considering all the risks. Arriving in Baku, on June 15, 1993, he was elected the chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, from the first day he was elected as the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet, adhered to his traditions and prioritized the principle of transparency in governance. Meetings of the Milli Majlis, press conferences, deliberations of republican importance were broadcast directly on television screens. In this way, the situation in the country was conveyed to the people. Necessary measures have been taken to eliminate the tension in social and political life. During the time when the Great Leader headed the Supreme Soviet from June 15 to October 3, 1993, the traditions of parliamentarism received a new breath and new strength. In order to recognize Azerbaijan as an independent state and prevent invasion, important decisions were made in the field of Army construction.
In 1993-2003, the important steps and decisions taken by the great leader Heydar Aliyev not only ensured the rapid development of Azerbaijan, but also laid the foundation for today’s realities of our country. The reforms initiated within the country in those years played a decisive role for our state, thanks to the work done, Azerbaijan entered the path of development and demonstrated its principled position on all issues in the international world.
The name of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev is written in our history as the savior of the Motherland and people. The Great Leader saved Azerbaijan from destruction and disintegration. Socio-political stability was ensured.
This historical return made it possible to establish socio-political stability in the country, build an independent state, socio-economic revival, and strengthen the position of our state in the world community by pursuing an independent policy. Social justice and national solidarity were ensured.
National leader Heydar Aliyev wrote our new history with his own hands, realizing the most important mission as the architect of independent Azerbaijan and a great statesman.
His life and state activities are an important part of the history of Azerbaijan and one of the most glorious pages. Just as Heydar Aliyev always relied on the people in his honorable activities, the people always relied on him, trusted him and took refuge in him in their most difficult days. Our genius leader also gave voice to the voice of his people in the most critical moments and protected them from possible dangers, saved them and put them on the path of development and progress.
The great leader’s greatest wish was to see the people of Azerbaijan independent, victorious, and our land freed from occupation. The people of Azerbaijan will never forget the great leader’s sacrifice for the independence and sovereignty of our country.
