The Japanese government said Friday it will expand sanctions against North Korea by newly freezing the assets of four organizations and nine individuals for their involvement in the country’s nuclear and missile development programs.
“Japan urges North Korea to take concrete actions toward resolving issues,” including nuclear and missile development as well as the abduction of Japanese nationals decades ago, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said in a news conference.
Last week, North Korea launched what it claims was a new type of intercontinental ballistic missile, following a slew of missile launches earlier this year.
