Jeyhun Bayramov: Armenia does not fulfill its obligations and continues military-political provocations

As part of his working visit to the United States, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov has met National Security Advisor to the US President Jake Sullivan.

They shared their opinions on the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations and regional security matters.

The meeting was joined by Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan.

Bayramov updated Jake Sullivan on the post-conflict situation in the region, Armenia’s failure to fulfill its obligations and fully withdraw its armed forces. According to the top Azerbaijani diplomat, Armenia’s continuing its military and political provocations derail the peace efforts. He underlined that Azerbaijan is determined to forge ahead with the normalization process and peace agenda notwithstanding the existing difficulties and challenges.

Bayramov described as unacceptable Armenia’s interference in the process of reintegration of the Armenian residents of the Karabakh region into the Azerbaijan’s society. According to him, Armenia’s provocation at the border checkpoint in Lachin is an indicator of this country’s refusal to put up with Azerbaijan’s reintegration efforts and Armenian residents’ free and transparent passage through the checkpoint.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the USA is interested in supporting both country’s efforts to sign the peace agreement.
