Lavrov and Cavusoglu meet in Rome

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed in Rome the prospects for launching a “three plus three” mechanism in the South Caucasus in order to unblock economic and transport ties in the region. It is reported by TASS with reference to the Russian Foreign Ministry, AJMEDIA reports.

It is reported that during the discussions, special attention was paid to the coordination of the two countries to further stabilize the situation in the Transcaucasus and the Balkans. In addition, the heads of the foreign ministries exchanged views on joint assistance to the Bosnian settlement, including through multilateral formats.

Earlier it was reported that the summit of the heads of state and government of the G20 began in Rome. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in the event in person. Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the G20 summit via video link due to the epidemiological situation associated with the coronavirus. His presentation is expected in two sessions: “The Global Economy and Global Health” and “Climate Change and the Environment”.
