“We denounce the decision on release of Armenian terrorist Hampig Sassounian, ASALA member, the murderer of Kemal Arıkan, Turkis Consul General in Los Angeles in 1982. The release of a terrorist is not only dangerous but also serves to the promotion of terrorism”, said the head of the Press Service Department of the MFA of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva while commenting on the release of Armenian terrorist Hampig Sassounian, the MFA Press Service told AJMEDIA.
During his imprisonment, in an interview with the Armenian military magazine Hay Zinvor in 2012, A. Sassunyan’s statement that he was an Armenian soldier and was ready to fight in the Karabakh territory of Azerbaijan which was under occupation in that period shows that this terrorist was not reclaimed: “Attempts to heroize of this terrorist in any way who is in Armenia according to the information spread in the Armenian mass media must be prevented”
