Representatives of Azerbaijan take active part in 6th International Congress of Turkology in Poland

Representatives of Azerbaijan were actively represented in numerous panels in the framework of the 6th International Congress of Turkology entitled “Studies on the Turkic World – Multidisciplinary Perspectives” organized in Warsaw, Poland on September 19-21.

Addressing the plenary session of the event, head of the “Atatürk” Center, professor Nizami Jafarov informed the event participants about the current state of Turkological sciences in Azerbaijan.

Additionally, a panel dedicated to the city of Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan and the Turkic World, was held for the first time as part of the Congress.

At the panel, representative of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher” Vafa Guliyeva, member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Maleyka Alizade, scientific staff members of ANAS Ahmad Gashamoglu and Tahira Muhammad, as well as Sevinj Gasimova, associate professor of Baku State University, took part in the presentation of written monuments, material and cultural history of Karabakh, events that contributed to the scientific development of the city of Shusha, and the role of women in the literary and social life of the city in the 19th century.

The exhibition “Conservatory of the Caucasus: Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan” was opened at the event.

As part of the Congress, the book entitled “Azerbaijani-Poland Literary Relations in the 19th Century” published in Polish was presented, authored by Guler Abdullabayova, a representative of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS. Speaking about the book, the author informed the congress participants about the ties in literature between Azerbaijan and Poland in the 19th century.

On the second day of the Congress, Director of the Monitoring Center at the State Language Commission Sevinj Aliyeva and its representative Gulyara Amirova, representatives of the University of Warsaw Shahla Kazimova and Nargiz Akhundova provided information about the history of the study of the Orkhon-Yenisei period and medieval Turkic monuments, the state of Turkology in Azerbaijan during the Soviet period.

During the discussions, representative of BSU Zarifa Nazirli spoke about the coverage of the second Karabakh war in the international media, representatives of the Azerbaijan Medical University and ANAS respectively, Sakina Aliyeva and Aynur Mahmud spoke about the basics of Turkic dialectology, conducted a comparative analysis of dialects.
