September 27 has been celebrated as Memorial Day in Azerbaijan for four years now. Remembrance Day, established according to the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, is an expression of deep respect for our soldiers and officers who fought heroically in the Patriotic War and died for the territorial integrity of our country, and all our martyrs.
AJMEDIA informs that commemorative ceremonies are being held in all cities and regions of the republic, including in our liberated territories, starting from the morning hours, our people are proudly commemorating the memory of our heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland.
The Patriotic War is our glorious history, martyrs and veterans are our source of pride. Our soldiers and officers who showed heroism in the struggle for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our republic, our civilians working on the rear front, and our people as a whole showed great determination and will, unity and solidarity like a fist, and dealt crushing blows to the enemy. The targeting of innocent civilians by the enemy, helpless in the face of counterattacks by the Azerbaijani Army, and numerous war crimes could not shake the determination of our people to win.
We have given thousands of martyrs in the war for the integrity of our territories, among our compatriots there are those who have gone missing and lost their health due to injuries. Our lands were freed from occupation at the cost of the lives of our martyrs. The history written today by our victorious army is a solid foundation for our tomorrow.
As stated in the relevant Decree of the President, our nation and state highly appreciates the bravery of our fighting sons and daughters, respects the souls of all our martyrs, and honors their memory. This is our duty of loyalty to our soldiers and officers who fought heroically in the Patriotic War, waved the Azerbaijani flag on our lands freed from occupation, sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, and all our martyrs.
President, Commander-in-Chief Muzaffar Ilham Aliyev always shows high respect to the memory of our martyrs who died for the Motherland, focuses on the perpetuation of their memory, as well as the treatment of our veterans and the restoration of their health. The head of state said in his public address on the end of the Patriotic War: “The martyrs of the First Karabakh and Second Karabakh wars will live forever in our hearts. May God have mercy on all our martyrs. As a result of their heroism and sacrifice, we are returning to our lands. May God heal all our wounded soldiers, let them recover soon and return to normal life, we are doing our best for their recovery and we will do it. Even our wounded soldier and officer who is in the most serious condition should know that we will do our best to bring him back to normal life. We are indebted to them for this victory.”
Today, the people of Azerbaijan and all the Azerbaijanis of the world remember with deep respect the memory of our martyrs who died for our holy Motherland. Our tricolor flag flies on the streets and squares, on the balconies of houses. In mosques, churches, and synagogues, prayers are recited to the souls of the children of the Motherland who died for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. People also celebrate Memorial Day as a day of triumph and pride.
