Tokyo reported five new COVID-19 cases on Nov. 24, a record daily low for this year, while the weekly average of cases continued to decline, metropolitan officials said.
The latest count in the capital is one fewer than the previous record set on Nov. 22 and 22 fewer than the same day the previous week.
The average number of daily new infections over the week through Nov. 24 stood at 14.3, or 67.8 percent of the figure for the preceding week.
The number of severely ill patients requiring ventilators or ECMO heart-lung bypass machines was eight, the same as Nov. 23.
