The Tokyo metropolitan government on Wednesday reported 1,935 new coronavirus cases, up 135 from Tuesday and down 480 from last Wednesday.
The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo is three, up one from Tuesday, health officials said. The nationwide figure is 79, up three from Tuesday.
Nationwide, the number of reported cases was 18,416. After Tokyo, the prefectures with the most cases were Osaka (1,644), Okinawa (1,557), Hokkaido (1,221), Aichi (1,169), Fukuoka (854), Hyogo (848), Kanagawa (823)Saitama (704), Hiroshima (578), Chiba (458), Kagoshima (425), Kyoto (424), Shizuoka (412), Kumamoto (362), Gifu (345), Miyagi (321), Okayama (302), Nagasaki (273), Miyazaki (267), Ishikawa (203), Aomori (203), Mie (193), Shiga (177), Ehime (170), Iwate (168), Nagano (168), Nara (167) and Gunma (165).
