Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan Baroness Emma Nicholson.
Describing Azerbaijan and the Great Britain as friendly and partner countries, Sahiba Gafarova touched upon the relations, which are at a high level, especially in the fields of economy, trade and energy.
Sahiba Gafarova noted that Azerbaijan is a reliable supplier of oil and gas for Europe, pointing out the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership signed last year between the EU and Azerbaijan in the field of energy as well as the active cooperation in the field of renewable energy.
Touching upon the developing inter-parliamentary ties, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova stressed the important role of mutual visits, which further deepen these relations.
Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the current situation in the region as well as large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan
Expressing gratitude for the hospitality, UK Prime Minister`s Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan Baroness Emma Nicholson said Azerbaijan is a reliable partner in ensuring international energy security. In addition to oil and gas reserves, the UK PM’s Trade Envoy also highlighted Azerbaijan`s great potential of renewable energy.
Hailing the current level of partnership relations between Azerbaijan and the Great Britain, Baroness Emma Nicholson noted the high level of development of relations, especially in the fields of energy and trade.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest at the meeting.
