We can annually build several tankers, dry cargo ships, Ro-Ro ships, and ferries, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during a ceremony to launch the “Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade” tanker built at Baku Shipyard by the order of the “Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping” Closed Joint-Stock Company (ASCO) on December 7, AJMEDIA reports.
“The foundation for the creation of this tanker was laid with the commissioning of a shipyard nine years ago. I made that decision and we achieved it. At that time, some people thought it was not necessary because we were buying ships and tankers from other countries. But I knew that it would be of great importance. Now we do not depend on anyone. We have both a professional team and experience. Therefore, all construction work here is carried out by local specialists. We can build several tankers, bulk carriers, Ro-Ro ships, and ferries every year,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
