The role of the Trilateral Summit held in Turkmenistan in determining of the goals of the Turkish states for the upcoming period

Tokyo, 18 December, /AJMEDIA/

The political and ideological activity of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern and independent statehood of Azerbaijan, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, was not limited to Azerbaijan, but covered the entire Turkic world. The work done by the great historical figure, the ideas he put forward, the opinions expressed by him are of great historical importance not only for his scientific-theoretical perfection, but also for his practical perspective.
In his speeches, the great leader noted about strengthening and development of the Turkic world: “Today, I really want to note that our peoples have been close friends for centuries. We are coming from the same root; we are monolingual people. Our national traditions are very close, similar to each other. Consequently, all these did not disconnect our nations from each other when we were still not independent, even when we lived under the slavery of separate states, but they connected us and kept us in closer contact with each other. Now, after our nations have gained their independence, after being recognized in the world as an independent state, we must continue to move forward and develop on the basis of historical traditions and those fundamental foundations”.
As a result of the calls of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continued the political course of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, today the Turkic states have shown mutual support and solidarity, taking into account each other’s national interests, political, economic, commercial, cultural, transport, energy, agriculture, tourism, as well as cooperation in areas such as security and defense have been activated.
After Azerbaijan’s victory over Armenia in the 44-day war, the base has been created for closer unification of the Turkic world. In general, against the background of the realities created by the historical Victory of Azerbaijan in the Second Karabakh War, the steps taken in the direction of unity of the Turkic world and the expansion of bilateral and multilateral relations between the Turkic-speaking countries cannot be ignored.
This year, the number of visits of the head of the country Mr. Ilham Aliyev to Turkic-speaking countries, as well as the number of visits of the leaders of those countries to Azerbaijan, and the expansion of the scope of the signed documents are also confirmed. As the head of state noted, strengthening relations with the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States in all areas is one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy. Azerbaijan has always contributed to the close unification of the Turkic world and will remain committed to the actions of this union in the future. The Turkic world covers a vast geography inhabited by more than 200 million people and has great economic potential, energy resources, transportation routes, and advanced military capabilities.
In this regard, the head of the country Mr. Ilham Aliyev’s business visit to Turkmenistan on December 14 of the current year, and within the framework of the visit, the President of Azerbaijan held private meetings with the presidents of Turkey and Turkmenistan, as well as the broad and limited meetings of the heads of state of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan, a number of issues that serve the future development of relations, created new opportunities to establish a unified position by exchanging ideas. During his speech at the trilateral summit, the head of state emphasized that: “Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan are closely connected with each other by ethnic, religious and cultural roots and common moral values. Our relations built on historical ties create opportunities for the development of cooperation between our countries in economy, trade, transport-logistics and other fields.
In this meeting, the countries demonstrated to the whole world what power they are capable of with new global-scale energy and transport projects. The important documents signed by the leaders at the meeting showed that the agreements reached will make important contributions to the further development of high-level relations and further strengthening of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
As can be seen, the Trilateral Summit held in Turkmenistan plays an important role in determining the goals for the upcoming period against the background of the Turkic states’ view of the past relations. The joint steps of the Turkish states from the common past to the common future have created new realities. Efficient steps are taken to form this reality, commendable results are achieved, every achievement is enhanced and further developed with subsequent successes.
