U.S. President Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have agreed “in principle” to hold a summit, the French government said Sunday, an announcement that came amid mounting fears over Moscow’s possible invasion of Ukraine.
Discussions on the envisioned meeting will take place when U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov meet on Thursday, according to the office of French President Emmanuel Macron.
A summit can only be held on condition that Russia does not invade Ukraine, it added.
