Baku Slavic University, Ghent University of Belgium discuss cooperation prospects

Rector of Baku Slavic University (BSU) Anar Naghiyev has met with Head of the Turkish section at the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication at Belgium’s Ghent University Johan Vandewalle.

Anar Nagiyev highlighted the history, activities, educational programs and international relations of BSU. He emphasized that the university is training highly qualified staff in the fields of Slavic studies, translation, as well as international relations and regional studies. Drawing attention to the activities of the Turkish Research Center at BSU, the Azerbaijani rector also spoke about the activities of the Department of Turkology of the university. Pointing out the activity of the Centers for Azerbaijani studies centers of BSU in a number of European universities, Anar Naghiyev hailed the role of these centers in promoting the country’s education and culture abroad.

Johan Vandewalle highlighted the activities of the Ghent University, as well as the Turkish section at the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication of the university. He expressed his interest in establishing cooperative relations between Ghent University and BSU.

The meeting featured discussions on the opportunities for cooperation, exchange of students and academic staff between the two universities, as well as implementation of research projects.
